Meteors.....Cub Scout Leader Penny Marjoram
ACSL Dave Mantle
We are all volunteers.,who have been trained through the Scouting training programme. We have all been checked through police records to ensure that we are all suitable to work with young children.
Penny also has additional training in child development. We have all been to child protection training and there is always someone with a first aid qualification on site.
We are all always happy to talk to any parents if you have any queries or worries. You are also very welcome to come along to any pack evening to see for yourself what your cub gets up to.
What to Wear. Group scarf, cub sweatshirt, t-shirt under sweatshirt, blue activity trousers. Full uniform will be expected to be worn for church parades.
We are a church sponsored group so all cubs are expected to attend at all church parades. (Parents are also welcome)

About the Evening.
Please make sure that an adult brings you to the door of the scout hut, just in case a leader is not present. When your child starts cubs they will be allocated to a SIX, which will be their own team.
Each Six usually has about 5 or 6 other cubs in. We are a mixed gender group. Each having the name of a colour. Each six wears a woggle of their sixes colour
Each SIX has a SIXER and SECONDER, This honour has to be earned by being responsible and by showing a keen attitude in the scouting movement. The SIXER is responsible for the rest in his team and to be a good role model.
At camps, the cubs are organised into different sixes with different names for the duration of that camp. If your son/daughter is unhappy in his/her Six, please let the Cub Scout leader know.
During the time your son/daughter is at cubs they will be working towards different badges, some are achieved at weekly meetings and some are to be worked on at home. All the information needed is in the Cub Scout handbook (which is given to them when they are invested) or you can came and talk to any of the leaders.
How the evening works.
The evening is started when “Pack, Pack, Pack” is called by Akela. All the cubs stand around the flag in a horseshoe shape and in there Sixes.
Grand Howl
This is the Cubs special way of reminding them about their promise made when they were invested.
Flag Break
This is when the Union Flag is unfurled.

Game
We usually start with a noisy and energetic game.
Activity
This is the time we spend on the different badge work, which is hopefully fun and educational.
Time for another game, if there is enough time.
End of the Evening The Cubs form a horseshoe shape again around the flag. Awards, notices and letters are given out.
Financial help is available for Cubs to attend camps who would otherwise be unable to take part. Also, if you have a problem with paying the subscriptions at any time, please contact a Leader in strictest confidence. Your child will never be excluded if there is a genuine hardship.
Moving to Scouts
When transferring to the Scout Troop Cubs are asked to partcipate in a 3-4 week transition period where they attend both Cubs and Scout meetings. This takes place when they reach 10 1/2 depending on places available in the Scout section.
More information is available from the Cub Scout Leader and the Scout Leader
Please email pennymarjoram@sky.com if you would like information on how to join the group.
